THE MICRO-CONTROLSTAR (GSM/GPRS, PSTN, & ZigBee) Optional Modbus RTU and SDI-12 Protocols, for integrating third party devices. The Micro Controlstar is a low powered device, which operates continuously from a combination of internal battery and a small solar cell, logging and reporting by GSM/GPRS, PSTN, or Zigbee. The Micro Controlstar provides user programmable logging and reporting strategies (these can be adjusted remotely to reflect changing operational needs). The Micro is user configurable to trigger a mix of alarm dial out, full SCADA data upload, and/or SMS text messages. The Micro Controlstar also operates from a wide range DC input (3-24V), in this case the internal secondary battery functions as a UPS. The basic Input/Output capacity of 6 digital In, 2 digital Out plus one high accuracy analogue input is extendable using the standard Controlstar® DIN rail I/O modules. Optionally the Micro Controlstar can be factory equipped with a ZigBee radio module, allowing similar radio units to coexist in a local control and monitoring network, avoiding the need and cost of interconnecting cabling. |

Micro-Controlstar monitoring a tidal outfall |
Monitoring a tidal outfall is an example where continuous manual inspection is both time consuming and can be risky, yet a blockage in the outfall can have major consequences. In this example a blockage could cause a large housing development to be quickly flooded during heavy rain. The Micro-Controlstar provides continuous monitoring against a user set alarm level, which if exceeded will trigger an SMS message to a mobile phone; the phone can be part of a user defined rota. The function of the outfall can be checked at anytime remotely, by accessing the unit and viewing the level trend. The unit is powered by a small solar cell which is bonded to the top face of the enclosure, a battery charger maintains a small internal battery this allows the unit to be permanently online. |
