AGA 8 and AGA3 Function Block

The Controlstar® includes a special function block for calculating the velocities for erosion monitoring; this uses the AGA8 to accurately establish velocities at a number of points in the process. The SCADA then provides a simple expert system to continuously advise the operators of the preferred control settings, we are also providing a complete integrated WITS server with distributed MMI’s for the Shell exploration well in the Dutch sector.
Multiple AGA8 and AGA3 function blocks can be used on the same Controlstar® system and the flow calculations can be integrated within the process control algorithms
The configuration software that’s integrated with the Controlstar I/O tool kit allows you to configure the run-time flow calculations behaviour. Among the configurable parameters, you can enter and configure the following:
·Gas properties (composition, heating value and density)
·Primary flow element type (Turbine Meter or Orifice Plate)
.Primary flow element parameters (Pipe internal diameter and orifice size, or turbine meter output frequency calibration value)
·Gas flow calculation algorithms to use (AGA3 or AGA-8)
·Gas density calculation algorithms to use (AGA-8)
·Gas density source (Manual as entered in the configuration software, Calculated by AGA-8.
·Alarms, events and configuration change logging parameters for audit trail.
